What happened
From a cold dryer to a glowing new element
The problem
The homeowner’s Speed Queen ADE4BRGS176TW01 electric dryer quit heating overnight. It still started, and the drum still turned, but nothing came out warm.
The diagnosis
With the lower front panel off, we pulled the heater element assembly out from under the drum and checked it with a meter. It read OL, an open circuit, so no current could flow through it. Looking along the coil, the break was right there: one section of wire had snapped apart.
The fix
We installed a new heater element assembly, put the dryer back together and ran a full cycle. The new element glowed red through the heater box and the dryer heated normally. The repair carries our 90-day warranty.
